Nutrients Missing from ‘dead’ bagged flour

In a previous article below titled, "Removing fiber and bran from whole grains", I went into detail on only ONE of the missing nutrients in 'dead' bagged flour. The Bran/Fiber was the focus and the percentage of the whole grain's nutrition that is removed when the bran or fiber is removed. That was simply ONE part of the grain missing when you buy flour in the bag that has been shelved for months. There are many more.

Today, I want to focus on the germ. No, I don’t mean the kind of germs that make you sick, the wheat germ.

The germ is the life-giving embryo part of a wheat kernel. It is the part from where a new wheat plant would sprout when the kernel is grown as a seed. The germ alone contains these percentages of the vital nutrients in a complete grain of wheat:

64% of the thiamine
26% of the riboflavin
21% of the pyridoxine
7% of the pantothenic acid
2% of the niacin
8% of the protein

The wheat germ contains oils and essential nutrients that interfere with the 'keeping' quality of flour. So manufacturers remove it. In doing so, they remove what was intended for our good health and have to 'replace' a tiny, miniscule portion of the nutrients by enriching the flour with synthetic vitamins. This is not how the grain was intended to be consumed, in parts with fake additives.

The misnomer of 'enriched flour' is, to me a dishonest statement. At least 25 nutrients are stripped during the refining process and one third the original amount of iron, b-1, niacin may then be synthetically replaced. If you think you are getting 'good flour' or healthy bread by having 'enriched' dead, bagged flour, it would be like saying you would pay $25.00 for someone to give you a dollar bill.

The next time I will expose all of the nutrients that actually are left in 'dead' bagged flour. The percentages will shock you at what you aren't getting!
